QTR.2 Project Update

10/26/2015

Hey guys! Today’s blog topic is another project update, but it’s for the second quarter. So, again I will be blogging about how far I think Kaycee and I are this quarter. To me I think we are a bit behind on our project because of radios, our first quarter project, and the Fall Challenge.

The first reason why I think we are a little behind on our project is because of our radios. Our radios are due this week and we have been working on them pretty much when we have free time. Since we had to work on our radios, we weren’t able to contact the manager of the Biomass Plant to ask him if we could do our project on it and we haven’t scheduled any interviews! (By the way we have to be finished filming interviews by November 6th. Just so you know why I am freaking out.)

Another reason why I think we are a little behind on our project is because of our first quarter project. Terri from Hiki No likes our story but had a bunch of corrections for us to make. Which requires more B-roll, which we can’t get because we can’t find a day to film with Haley and Harley. So we are really worried about that because Hiki No wants it finished by next week. That means we are really trying to do anything we can to improve our project with what we have.

The last reason that I believe slowed us down on our project is the Fall Challenge. The Fall Challenge just finished last week and my partner was dedicating a lot of her time to do the Fall Challenge. So, I had to try and do what I could and what I knew without her for 6 days. That doesn’t sound very challenging, but it is. They basically spent 144 hours all day working on the project. I had to go that long without asking her for help or her opinion and I feel bad I am always bugging her, but I am always very unsure of myself.

Now you know why I am a little worried about our project, but it’s only the beginning of the quarter. So, we started off a little behind in the first quarter and then we came back and got ahead. I hope you liked my blog! Bye!

Goosebumps

10/26/2015

Hey guys! You know that feeling when your hairs on your arms stand up because you are feeling a certain way. Well it has a specific name and is the name of the movie trailer I will be talking about today, Goosebumps. So, usually I’m not into these kinds of movies, but when I went to watch Hotel Transylvania 2 I saw this trailer and it looked pretty interesting. The idea of this is very creative and I think it was based of the books Goosebumps, but yeah I think this was very creative and unique. I personally like the invisible guy I thought that was pretty hilarious, but in the trailer it doesn’t show how he’s bad or evil. Anyways I hope you liked my blog and the trailer below!

Practice Makes Perfect

10/23/2015

Hey guys! This week’s blog topic is what did you have to practice to get good at it. For me that is soccer. I’m still not that great at it, but it’s a working progress. So, I will be giving you three reasons on what I learned from practicing soccer. I’ll be honest with you when it comes to soccer practice people know I would rather be doing something else a lot of the time or I’m not in the mood to play soccer. But I’m glad I keep playing.

So, one thing I learned is of course to keep on trying. If something is hard keep on trying because eventually you will get the hang of it. There was one thing I had the hardest time on doing in soccer, and that was chipping. Chipping is when you kick the ball high and far in the air without using your toes. I was terrible at that and I still am, but I am definitely improving because before I couldn’t even get the ball in the air kicking it the correct way. I never gave up and I do it when I have the chance too in practice or before practice. Just never give up no matter what.

Another thing I learned from practicing soccer is that you have to edify your team-mates. Usually I always cheer on the goalie because I feel really bad for them when they get scored on. You can tell they start to loose their confidence after the other team scores on them. So, you pick them up tell them they are doing great to rebuild their confidence. Every goal the other team scores I try to high five them every time.

The last thing I learned from soccer is that you have to be patient with others and I can be very impatient. Maybe someone on your team needs more help then you do, but be patient, help them if they need help because if you were in there shoes I’m sure you would want someone to help you and to be patient with you. I know I would because it’s like starting media the returning partners have to be patient with the newbies. Which by the way Kaycee is very patient with me because I know I need help with a lot of things. So, be patient with people because you would want people to be patient with you.

These are just a few things I picked up from practicing soccer and just remember to practice and you will get better at it. No matter what you do whether it’s learning a new instrument, or shooting interviews, sports, etc. Thanks for reading my blog! Bye!

The Good Dinosaur

10/22/2015

Hey Guys! So, lately I've been doing my free blogs on movie trailers, and guess what I’m going to talk about for this free blog. Another movie trailer, but this one is on the movie "The Good Dinosaur". It looks really good to me, and it’s made by Disney Pixar. What I can tell from the trailer, it looks like it’s really touching. I’m assuming a baby dinosaur gets lost in a waterfall and finds a little boy trying to survive on his own, so then the dinosaur and the boy work together and protect each other. It looks interesting and trailers make you think one thing while the movie is something else. Trust me trailers do that to you. But I am very excited for this movie and I can’t wait for it to come out! I will post the trailer below so you can watch it and hope you enjoyed my blog!

Goals!

Hey guys! I’m back from our wonderful Fall Break to do another blog. This blog is on the goals I have for the second quarter. I am super pumped about this blog because I sort of already started to think of some goals I have for this quarter over the break. So, if you want to know some of the goals I have for this quarter read on.

One of the goals I have for this quarter is to get this quarter’s video on Hiki No. I'm pretty sure our first quarter video will be on Hiki No, but the reason why I really want this quarter’s video to be on Hiki No is because I will be taking the lead on the project this quarter. So, that will prove that I will be ready to be a mentor next year because next year I will be doing most of the work.

The next goal that I want to reach this quarter is to be on time with everything especially our project. That means we have to reach all of the deadlines for everything, even our blogs. I want to make sure we are always on track and prepared for everything.

The last goal I have for this quarter is to do good in the practices for whichever category I get put in for STN. We aren’t sure what category we are in yet, but hopefully we will know soon because we have a practice coming up in November. I am really excited about that and I can’t wait for STN! But before STN comes we have to practice because I am almost 100% sure that half of the newbies don’t know what to do. Especially me.

These are some of the goals I have for this quarter and I’m sure many people in the class have some of the same goals as I do. These aren’t all of the goals I want to reach for this quarter, but my top 3. I hope you enjoyed reading my blog and my free blog is posted below. Bye!

The Angry Birds Movie!

10/14/2015

Hey guys! I am so excited for this week’s free blog! So, I’m doing it on another new movie coming out in the theaters, it’s called "The Angry Birds Movie". Ok, don’t judge me the trailer looks really funny and interesting. The characters look super funny and crazy. The characters also look a little different from the game Angry Birds and their personalities are different from what I always imagined. But, anyways I think this movie is going to be awesome and if you want to see the trailer I will post it below. Hope you like it!

Hey guys! This week’s free blog is going to be about "Hotel Transylvania 2"! So this trailer looked really funny which I will post below. It’s out in the theater now and hopefully I will be able to watch it soon. I think the trailer was very creative and funny. It’s an animated movie and the first one already came out. I’m going to be honest with you and say I haven’t watched the first movie, but this trailer really caught my eye when I saw it on Tv, and it looked really entertaining. That's one thing that is super important to have when making a movie, a good and interesting story. Well, anyways I hope you liked my blog and the trailer will be posted below!

Project Update

10/1/2015

Hey guys! I am super happy because, (drum roll) the quarter is almost over! No seriously the first quarter is almost over! Which means projects are almost due! But, I'm totally fine because we just finished recording our voice overs (which I will probably refer to a VO’s in this blog). So all we need to do is put B-roll over our VO's, as well as getting it approved. I will be updating you on our project and if I think we are ahead, behind or in the middle.

One reason why I believe we are doing pretty good on our project is because we are almost done. To me I think that’s pretty good because we finished our filming, recording VO’s, and we are almost finished editing. I’m am super glad we don’t have to rush around freaking out about our project being due on Friday. So I would say we are on the right track thanks to my amazing partner, Kaycee.

Another reason why I think are project is going to be fantastic is because we put a lot of effort into this. We worked pretty hard on this because trust me it isn’t easy. For our script we had to make many corrections, we had to make 5 drafts. But, finally it got approved and on to editing. Kaycee and I worked after school on this a few times, she came over to my house to work on it once, and of course we worked on it during class. To me, I think our video looks pretty nice and the audio sounds good. We had just enough steady B-roll to cover over the jump cuts (when you switch the interviews to a different person) and for the VO’s. But, I think it turned out great!

Finally, I feel great about our project because I think our story is interesting, and I think it will grab people’s attention. Of course your video has to look nice and the audio has to sound good too (which I just talked about in the last paragraph). Besides that, you also have to have an interesting story, which I think our’s is. For those of you who have no idea what our story is it’s on a dog who has a disease that makes his legs weak, and his owner creates a doggie wheelchair for him. It’s a very touching story because you can see how much people love their pets.

To conclude this blog, I don’t think we should be that nervous about turning in our project because I think it will be turned in on time, we worked really hard on it, and I think we have a good topic. Plus, someone from Hiki No looked at our script and make suggestions that were very helpful. I hope everyone else is doing great on their projects. Till, next time!

If you want to see our finished project I will post it on my 1st Quarter Project Page!
