Blogs

Challenges

Hi again! I’m back this week to do blogs and remember that each week I will be posting 2 blogs. This week’s blog topic is what was challenging for the media students so far. Three things that were hard for me so far was creating this website, radios, and coming up with interview questions. Since me and Kaycee weren't able to come schedule an exact date for our interview with Haley and her family, but I am sure we will soon.

So the first challenging thing for me so far was creating this website. We had to have our websites created and set up by last week Friday. I didn’t have much pictures to post because I don’t take that much scenery pictures, and we could only use pictures that we took. Thankfully I went to the carnival on Saturday with most people in the media class. There, I was able to take pictures with my partner and other students for my site. I was having a lot of trouble thinking of how to do my blogs and what to do it on. Good thing Kaycee helped me and showed me how to use Weebly.

Radios were also challenging for me. As I wrote in my other blog, Kaycee and I got radios first. Usually you would start 4 weeks early but we had to start the week it was due. So we had to call schools, which I was kind of nervous about, write our own script, get our scripts approved, and we had to record and edit our radios. I think making the script was the hardest part. You have to take all the information you need to announce and put it in the script, and your script has to flow like you are having a conversation with your partner.

Making questions for your interviews was another hard thing for me to do. You have to create good questions depending on what your story is. So our story is on a girl named Haley Gokan and her dog’s relationship. Her dog got a disease that barely allows him to walk so she made him a wheel chair to get around easier. So I had to make questions for Haley’s parents which is kind of hard because I didn’t want to ask them like the all the same questions as the questions we are going to ask Haley. I also had to make questions for the people who judged Haley’s wheelchair. She entered it in a competition, although she did not win.

So these were the most challenging things in the media class so far. I’m sure as soon as I start doing interviews and more challenging things I will have another thing to add to my list. Thanks for reading my blog!
