Hello everyone! I am back to do this weeks blog and the topic for this week is what our top 3 memorable events from the camp. So I had a feeling Mr.M (my dad) as going to give us a topic sort of like this, but if he didn’t I was going to do this anyways. But this camp was a lot of fun and gave me many ways to bond with my classmates. I feel that we definitely reached our goal of getting to know each other.
So my first memorable event from the class is playing kickball with everyone. For the first game, my team smoked the other team (sorry if you were on the other team). Even though Kaden was on the other team and kept on catching my dad’s balls, I think the team I was with worked really well with each other. We also played tug of war and we were also supposed to play dodgeball as well, but we didn’t have time. A few of the chaperones played with us in some activities which made it more exciting because they were super good. We learned how to work with each other and made a few strategies to win.
I also liked when we went on that night hike even though I freaked out so much I cried. First Uncle Billy (our tour guide) asked all of the boys in our class to go and get a few pieces of firewood from his truck. Meanwhile Uncle Billy told all the girls that we were going to play a prank on the guys and go on a night hike and scream just to freak them out. So, he told us ghost stories before we went on the hike and the parents weren’t aloud to come. Uncle Billy asked the whole class to choose one girl to lead and one boy to be the last incase anything happens. So, for the girls we chose Javlynn and for boys we chose Carter. The hike we went on was called “The Dead Man’s Trail”, and supposedly there was a guy who died on that trail and grabs people’s legs and yanks them down into the ground. I was probably scared more than any of the boys were. We had to grab on to the shoulder of the person in front of us, but that didn’t work out very well and we lost half of our group. I was squeezing Shaelyn’s hand super hard I feel bad for her, but thanks Shaelyn! Oh and thank you Mia.T for helping me stay a little more calm as well. The parents were in on the plan to scare us too. But just the whole night in general was so much fun, after the hike we made s'mores and worked on our anonymous letters. I thought that was a good hike because I was able to bond with a lot of people I didn’t really talk to.
The last thing that I had a lot of fun doing was the whole entire “Inside Scoop” practice. It was a lot of fun and it was hilarious. For this activity we pretended to be doing everything we needed to do for the “Inside Scoops”. First, we pretended to call schools which were the chaperones and each chaperone had there one little thing which made it hard for us to get the information. For example Uncle Gerald (Kaycee’s dad) talked really fast and I believe almost everyone said he was the hardest. So, we went in a cycle and my dad was second to last and Kaycee had him and we had a lot of extra time left. My dad was the mean one and we were kind of giving him ideas on what to do on the last one because he wanted to be really mean. He had someone record the last one and poor Ben, my dad was so mean to him but Ben dealt with it awesomely and kept his cool. Next, we had to write the script, it was a bit difficult since we didn’t have all the information. But somehow we figured it out and finished. All the newbies had to announce so we could practice our radio voice. I had to announce with Destry and it was super funny because there was one line he had to say that was super funny I couldn’t stop laughing.
Overall I think the camp went really well considering the power went out multiple times and we had no water for some of the time as well. The camp definitely helped mixed up the class. So when advisory started everyone was sitting in different spots and with other people. It's too bad Dylan missed it, but throughout the year I will hopefully get to know him better as well. It was really smart for the chaperones and Mr.M to bring us up to a place without wifi and I am pretty sure a lot of people thought they wouldn't survive without it. I really want to thank all of the chaperones, Uncle Billy, Uncle Ron, and Mr.M for bringing us all up there. It couldn't have been easy to take care of 22 students. The camp was so much fun and I can’t wait till STN this year it sounds like another good way to bond with one another. I wish we could have stayed longer, but time does fly when you are having fun! Thanks for reading! Bye!
