Hey guys! I’m sorry I couldn’t do a vlog this week but I don’t think you guys want to see me vlog with one eye open. Anyways, this week’s blog topic is on what I learned from the first quarter and a recap of how the quarter went. I think this quarter went really well because we turned in all of our projects on time and I feel very confident with our work. This blog will mostly be about what I learned about being a mentor because it’s my first time and now I know what to mostly expect for the rest of the year. Three things I learned this quarter is how to work the cameras a lot better, to always be prepared, and I learned a lot about our whole class.
One thing I learned this quarter was how to work the cameras a lot better. During the CKTV Kokee media camp we learned how to change the settings on the cameras. For instance, we learned how to change the shutter speed, and the iso. The shutter speed determines how fast the shutter closes. It determines how much light you let in. I wasn’t exactly sure how to change the shutter speed before but now I know how for sure.
Another thing that I learned this quarter was to always be prepared and take charge when needed. Especially for the newbies, this is an important one! Live it up now because when you become a mentor you will have a lot more responsibilities, which means you always need to be prepared. You always have to be prepared because you never know when Mr. M will catch you by surprise. For example, he asked for an advisory game and no one raised their hand. I knew that if nobody raised their hand, he would have probably given our whole class a lecture. So, I rose my hand and I have to say, Taylor and I weren’t as prepared as we could have been.
I also learned a lot about my classmates in the media class. I think that this quarter we bonded a lot, especially at the Koke’e camping trip. I learned a lot about Kieth and how he is an amazing athlete. Lukas is another person I feel like I bonded with. He is very funny and an amazing friend. I think I also really got to know Aron too because he was in my group at Koke’e. Finally, I think I really bonded with my partner Taylor M. She is really funny, kind, and I feel like she will do really well in this class.
This is my recap of the first quarter and these are three things that I learned this quarter. This quarter I learned how to change the settings on the cameras, to always be prepared and take charge when needed, and a lot about my classmates. Thanks for reading! Bye!
